a soldier > Identifying medal ribbons
Do you have a photograph of a soldier of the Great War, where he is wearing
medals of an earlier campaign? Was he an "old sweat" of theSouth African
(Boer war) campaign of 1899-1902 or perhaps the wars in the Sudan or the
North West frontier of India? These contemporary charts showing medal ribbons
may help. They were published in 1916. The images include the gallantry
medals being awarded during the Great War too, but of course not the campaign
medals which were not at this stage even designed. The charts also show
naval medal ribbons and those of the Albert
Medal.
