I can't spot him under that number, George. Is it correct as typed?

Thanks for your prompt reply---I have confirmed by several documents that his service number is as typed. Would these additional details help at all.

Prt. Fred Jackson--M/427213 MT Depot (Sydenham) Army Service Corps--Died 17/11/1918 aged 27 at Brooking Hospital Sydenham from Penumonia. Thanks

Hi George

Here he is on CWGC - http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_det ... lty=357095
and the right service number, it also says he was at the MT Depot at Sydenham (as you know)so maybe he did not.

Tried to look up National Archives, but it did not want to let me in. Had a quick look on Ancestry, but no one came up and I dont have a subscription so I cant check further

hope this helps

Robert

Thank you gentlemen for your feedback.. I have just discovered that this man states on his Attestation papers that he has had previous service expirience with the York and Lancs regt. The 1911 puts him at Longmore Barracks the purpose of which you explained to me on a previous post. Is this where the confusion arises? Thanks
