Summary
Although the Battle of the Somme is officially recognised as ending with the capture of Beaumont Hamel in November 1916, operations in the Ancre valley and on the surrounding heights continued through the freezing winter of 1916-1917. The fighting has three official stages: the Actions of Miraumont, the Capture of the Thilloys, and the Capture of Irles.
 
Which British formations took part?

All of these operations were undertaken by formations under the command of Fifth Army

Actions of Miraumont - 17th - 18th February 1917

II Corps :2nd Division, 18th Division, 63rd Division

Capture of the Thilloys - 25th February - 2nd March 1917

II Corps :2nd Division

1st ANZAC : 1st, 2nd and 5th Australian Divisions

Capture of Irles - 10th March 1917

II Corps :2nd Division, 18th Division

1st ANZAC : 2nd Australian Division

In addition to the above-named Corps and Divisions, the following were also engaged in the area during this period:

IV Corps : 11th Division, 51st Division, 61st Division

V Corps : 7th Division, 19th Division, 31st Division, 32nd Division, 46th Division, 62nd Division

1st ANZAC : 1st and 5th Australian Divisions
