1/1st

August 1914: in York, part of the Yorkshire Mounted Brigade.

Early 1915: Regiment split up: RHQ and A Squadron joined 50th (Northumbrian) Division; B Squadron joined 46th (North Midland) Division; C Squadron joined 49th (West Riding) Division.

May 1916: all units reformed in France, and Regiment redesignated XVII Corps Cavalry.

August 1917: Regiment left XVII Corps, and converted for infantry training.

November 1917: 400 men were absorbed into the 9th Bn, the West Yorkshire Regiment, which was subsequently redesignated the 9th (Yorkshire Hussars Yeomanry) Battalion.

2/1st

Formed September 1914, and remained in UK until May 1918 when moved to Ireland. Converted into a cyclist unit in July 1916.

3/1st

Formed in 1915. Remained in United Kingdom until absorbed into 5th Reserve Cavalary Regiment in early 1917. In November 1917, was converted to infantry and joined 5th (Reserve) Bn, the West Yorkshire Regiment.
