1/1st and 1/2nd and 1/3rd

August 1914 : in Dunkeld (1/1st); Aberdeen (1/2nd). 1/3rd forned in August 1914. Attached to 1/1st Scottish Horse Brigade on formation in September 1914.

January 1915 : Brigade attached to 2nd Northumbrian Division, on coastal defences.

August 1915 : Regiment dismounted and moved to Gallipoli, landing at Suvla Bay on 2nd September 1915, becoming attached to 2nd Mounted Division.

19th/20th December 1915 : evacuated from Gallipoli and moved to Egypt.

February 1916 : Brigade absorbed into 1st Dismounted Brigade, on Suez Canal defences.

October 1916 : 1/1st and 1/2nd Regiments formed 13th (Scottish Horse Yeomanry) Battalion, the Black Watch.

October 1916 ; moved to Salonika, and joined 81st Brigade, 27th Division.

June 1918 : moved to France.

July 1918 : transferred to 149th Brigade, 50th Division.

2/1st, 2/2nd and 2/3rd

Formed in August and September 1914, attached to 2/1st Scottish Horse Mounted Brigade.

Remained in United Kingdom until moving to Ireland in April 1918, where then remained. Converted into cyclist units in July 1916.

3/1st, 3/2nd and 3/3rd

Formed in 1915. Remained in United Kingdom until disbanded in early 1917.
