1/1st August 1914 : in Northampton. Attached to the Eastern Mounted Brigade. October 1914 : joined 8th Division, and moved with them to France, in early November 1914. April 1915 : left the Division and split up as follows:- RHQ and B Squadron joined 6th Division; A Squadron joined 4th Division; C Squadron joined 5th Division. May 1916 : all units reformed and became VI Corps Cavalry Regiment. November 1917 : left Corps and moved to Italy, becoming XIV Corps Cavalry. For a period between April and October 1918, acted as GHQ Troops. 2/1st Formed September 1914. February 1915 : joined 59th Division. RHQ and A Squadron moved to 69th Division between April 1916 and June 1917. A Squadron moved to 67th Division between October 1916 and June 1917, and one Squadron moved to France in late 1916, and was absorbed into the Tank Corps in August 1917. The units remaining in England were disbanded in 1917. 3/1st Formed in 1915. Remained in United Kingdom until absorbed in 6th Reserve Cavalry Regiment in early 1917.
