1/1st

August 1914: in Winchester, part of the 1st South Western Mounted Brigade.

March 1916 : Regiment split up: RHQ and B Squadron joined 60th Division and moved to France 25 June 1916. A few days later RHQ joined IX Corps Cavalry and B Squadron joined XVII Corps Cavalry; A Squadron joined 58th Division; C Squadron joined 61st Division; this Squadron also had a brief attachment in late May / early June 1916 to 1st Cavalry Division.

Late June 1916: C Squadron joined IX Corps Cavalry (other units being two squadrons of the 1/1st Wiltshire Yeomanry).

January 1917 : RHQ, A and B Squadrons also join IX Corps Cavalry.

25 August 1917 : Regiment is dismounted and moves to an infantry training depot.

27 September 1917 : men join a battalion which is immediately redesignated 15th (Hampshire Yeomanry) Bn, the Hampshire Regiment.

2/1st

Formed September 1914, and remained in UK until May 1918 when moved to Ireland. Converted into a cyclist unit in July 1916.

3/1st

Formed in 1915. Remained in United Kingdom. Converted into infantry when 1/1st Regiment converted, in August 1917.
