Sharpshooters 1/3rd August 1914 : in St. John's Wood, London. Part of the London Mounted Brigade, which in September 1914 was attached to the 2nd Mounted Division. April 1915 : moved to Egypt, and in August 1915, dismounted to Gallipoli December 1915 : moved to Egypt January 1916 : Brigade became an independent command and redesignated 8th Mounted Brigade. November 1916: moved to Salonika, returning to Egypt June 1917. July 1917 : Brigade joined Yeomanry Mounted Division. April 1918 : with the City of London Yeomanry, formed E Bn, the Machine Gun Corps June 1918 : moved via Italy to France August 1918 : renumbered 103 Bn, Machine Gun Corps, attached to First Army. 2/3rd Formed August 1914, and remained in UK until May 1918 when moved to Ireland. Converted to cyclist unit in July 1916. 3/3rd Formed in 1915. Remained in United Kingdom until absorbed by 2nd Reserve Cavalry Regiment in Ireland. |
