Westminster Dragoons

1/2nd

August 1914 : in London, attached to the London Mounted Brigade.

September 1914 : moved independently to Egypt

January 1915 : formed the Yeomanry Mounted Brigade with the 1/1st Hertfordshire Yeomanry

August 1915: dismounted to Gallipoli, attached to 2nd Mounted Division; Brigade redesignated 5th Mounted Brigade.

December 1915 : returned to Egypt, remounted, and left Division.

April 1916: attached to 6th Mounted Brigade in Western Frontier Force (desert).

January - August 1917 : squadrons and RHQ split up; RHQ and C to Northern Canal Defences; A Sqn attached to 53rd Division in Jan'Feb and 74th Division later; B Sqn was at Depot.

August 1917 : Regiment reformed and became XX Corps Cavalry Regiment

April 1918 : became "F" Battalion, Machine Gun Corps

June 1918 : moved via Italy to France

August 1918 : renumbered 104 Bn, Machine Gun Corps, attached to Second Army.

2/2nd

Formed August 1914, but history obscure.

3/2nd

Formed in 1915. Remained in United Kingdom until absorbed by 4th Reserve Cavalry Regiment in Ireland.
